Maison Des Pruniers

Chateau des Vigiers was built in about 1597 but it was not until 1992 that restoration work was begun to create the wonderful place in which you can relax and enjoy golf, fine wine and great local cuisine in one of two restaurants on site.

For those who would prefer to be entirely independent, there is a well equipped kitchen and a different local produce market within 15 miles, each day of the week.

The nearby market town of Ste Foy la Grande is one of several historic towns in the area, the largest of which is the ancient river port of Bergerac.

Local vineyards are always eager to let you sample their wines and fine restaurants abound. Twenty miles to the west are St Emilion, and a little further away Medoc; both among the most famous wine producing areas in the world.

Kayaking on the Dordogne, walking and discovering some wonderful local wines are all within easy reach. The ancient cave paintings at Lascaux and the upper reaches of the Dordogne are also well worth exploring. Bordeaux, 40 miles to the west can be reached by car or train.

Access is straightforward, either by flying from one of several UK regional airports with Flybe or Ryanair directly to Bergerac, or a little further to Bordeaux, or by crossing the Channel and driving.
